Colville School

Colville School

Colville School is situated 26 km from Coromandel town on the north western side of the Coromandel Peninsula. The small rural school has two classes, junior and senior and is a stones throw away from the beach.

EMR 2009

Colville joined the EMR programme in February / March 2009. The small size of the school meant that the whole senior class, 10 students ranging from years 4-8, was involved.

DOC ranger Rebekah Caldwell and DOC marine 'techie' Kristina Hillock led the class sessions with follow up by the awesome teachers Cattie Byers and Peter McKellar. Snorkel training was carried out in two sessions by Ranger Becks and Joy Mickleson at the Coromandel Community Pool, with support encouragement from principal Teresa Brownbridge and DOC's Joy Mickleson.

The field trip to Te Whanganui-A-Hei was held with Tapu School and had a ratio of 1child - 2 adults.
