Whangarei Intermediate took part in the EMR programme in 2009. A highlight was the two night camp they went on at Pakiri down near the Goat Island Marine Reserve. When they went snorkeling at the marine reserve they were amazed by the Crayfish, BIG Snapper and the EagleRay! Congratulations to Taylor Campbell and Nikita Sutton for winning a trip to the Poor Knights Island Marine Reserve with EMR for their awesome action. The girls designed large bright signs for their local area designed to stop people from littering near the waterways. They got permission from the council to put them up and the signs are very effective.
Jo Beaumonts class took part in EMR in 2008, and produced some awesome actions including a presentation tho the school about marine reserves and individual projects on marine species and how they could be conserved.
