EMR Auckland school holiday snorkel sessions

Holiday programme

EMR Auckland school holiday snorkel sessions

If you are looking for activities for your kids to get involved in this summer, this is a fantastic opportunity for them to safely explore the mōana, develop in-water confidence and learn about our marine envrionment while having a whale of a time.

We are able to offer transportation and a full day of activities for 10 kids per day.

Each day will involve 2 snorkels at 2 different locations. One in a marine reserve and one not in a marine reserve as a comparision. Other activities may include a short nature walk and/or rockpooling.

10th January - Goat Island & Mathesons Bay

11th January - Tārawhanui - Anchor Bay & Jones Bay

17th January - Tārawhanui - Anchor Bay & Jones Bay

18th January - Goat Island & Mathesons Bay

25th January - Tārawhanui - Anchor Bay & Jones Bay

All activities are weather dependant, the locations may switch. Whangateau estuary may also be used as a back up location (tide dependant). EMR will make the best judgment on the day due to sea conditions on which locations/activities will be used. In the event of unsuitable weather the event will be cancelled. You will be given 24 hours notice of any cancelations.

These events have been subsidised thanks to the Bobby Stafford-Bush Foundation.

*All dates are weather dependant. Back up locations will be used where possible. Events will run with light rain.*

*Please note this programme is intended for kids of school age. If parents would like to join it is possible with a few conditions. They would need to transport themselves to and from the snorkel locations. They would need to be competent snorkellers and happy to help out as a "volunteer supervisor" in the water rather than a participant. This is to meet our health and saftey ratios. The role of ‘supervisors’ is to assist and supervise the student’s in-water and are expected to be confident swimmers, fit and healthy and free from the influence of drugs or alcohol. Adults may also join as our shore watch where you would be responsible for checking individuals in/out of the water and keeping an eye on the group whilst snorkeling.*

*Minimum age is 7 years old*

*EMR is outdoor mark Adventure activities saftey audit certified. Experienced coordinators and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.*
