Come and explore our local marine reserve by kayak. Learn first-hand about the marine life that lives there and get kayaking tuition from professionals.

You will be guided through large mature mangroves and down a tidal channel where one of New Zealand's largest colonies of cormorants lives and nests. You may see mullet leaping clear out of the
water, flounder in the shallows and the majestic royal spoonbill hiding in the mangroves if you're really lucky! Fun for the whole whanau. Activity recommended for 7 years and up. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult participant to ensure adequate ratio. Advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day. You may also register your own kayak or paddle board (spaces liminted)
Where: Whangarei Harbour Marine Reserve – Waikaraka. Waikaraka rest area on Whangarei Heads Rd.

The usual policy is 48 hours, but the exact terms will be specified on your event sign up form. 'No shows' and late cancelations may affect our ability to offer free events in the future!
